    Fraberts Fresh Food

    CHEF DEREK ROBERTS

Derek grew up in Timmins and has always loved cooking. After working as an aquatic toxicologist for an environmental consulting firm for years, he finally decided to pursue this passion. He studied Culinary Arts at the Culinary Arts School of Ontario in 2005 and graduated at the top of his class. He worked at the Kingbridge Centre in King City and then the Breadalbane Inn right here in Fergus before taking the leap into starting our own business.

Chef Derek is passionate about creating “comfort food” – meals that families can enjoy any time – using local, fresh, quality ingredients. He is especially proud of his made-from-scratch soups. Derek loves interacting with you – our valuable customers – to help you provide delicious, wholesome meals for your family. He also loves to help with special occasions – either by catering, or helping you source the perfect ingredients. If you ever have questions about how to prepare something or are looking for tips – just pop your head into Derek’s kitchen next time you are in the store or call him at 226-383-7374.

JACKIE FRASER – LOCAL FOOD FORAGER

Jackie Fraser is the “local food forager” for Fraberts Fresh Food. Jackie grew up on a dairy farm in Huttonville, just west of Brampton. As a teen, she worked for a local fruit and veggie farm and two different farm markets, where she learned the produce business and gained a passion for local food.

After graduating from the University of Guelph with an agricultural science degree and a Masters in Land Resources Management, she worked as an environmental consultant for a variety of industries, and eventually found her way back to agriculture, working as the Executive Director of “Agricultural Groups Concerned About Resources and the Environment” (AGCare). She is now focussing full time on Fraberts Fresh Food.

Jackie’s main role at Fraberts is the produce section. She goes to the Ontario Food Terminal bright and early twice per week to collect any imported produce we need, as well as Ontario produce from areas such as the Holland Marsh, Niagara region, and the hothouses of the Leamington area. These are sold at the outdoor farmers’ market section of the terminal.

We also purchase directly from specific farmers in the area such as Paul Collins’ spinach, Floralane’s tomatoes and Van Tols’ sweet corn.

    Our Values

Fraberts Fresh Food will provide only quality, authentic food for your family. If we wouldn’t be proud to serve it to our own family, we won’t sell it. Shopping at Fraberts Fresh Food is guaranteed to be an enjoyable and informative experience. Derek the chef, Jackie the farm girl, and the rest of the Fraberts team are here to answer any questions you have.

Fraberts’ ready-made meals are created by Chef Derek with fresh, wholesome, local ingredients, using no preservatives or other additives.

We support local farmers and businesses as much as possible. Ontario’s farmers are excellent environmental stewards. By supporting them, we are encouraging environmental responsibility.

We are here to serve you – if our products or services are not satisfactory, or if we don’t have what you are looking for, please tell us.
